Mounjaro Weight loss Medication
From 23 June 2025, some patients living with obesity and four or more diagnosed health conditions may be eligible for weight-loss support with Mounjaro® (tirzepatide) through their GP.
This will be managed by the practice contacting eligible patients directly. Prescriptions will not be given immediately, and we kindly ask patients not to call the practice about this. We will be in touch over the coming weeks with those who qualify.
Access to Mounjaro will only be available alongside support for healthy eating and physical activity, as part of a wider national programme. Patients must engage with this support service to receive the medication.
To qualify, you must have:
-
A BMI of 40 or more (for ethic minorities 37.5 or more)
-
At least 4 of the following conditions:
• Type 2 diabetes
• High blood pressure
• Cardiovascular disease
• Sleep apnoea
• High cholesterol
We understand some people may feel disappointed if they are not eligible. If you’re struggling, NHS Talking Therapies offer free and confidential emotional support : https://www.sussex.ics.nhs.uk/your-care/healthy-living/support-to-manage-your-weight/
